How NIWA was founded
NIWA was born out of a shared need for support and unity within the Nigerian community in Wales. Originating as an online community group in 2019, our journey began in response to the socio-economic challenges faced by Nigerian students, individuals, and families, particularly in Swansea.
The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic magnified the existing disparities, especially impacting ethnic minority communities across Wales. Recognizing the urgent need for organized support, NIWA took a pivotal step forward by officially registering as an organization. This decision was driven by our unwavering commitment to providing essential assistance and fostering solidarity among people of Nigerian heritage.
Today, NIWA stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment, dedicated to serving and uplifting the Nigerian community in Wales. Join us as we continue our mission of resilience, unity, and progress.
